Volunteer with St Peter's

Our volunteers are at the heart of St Peter's. Across Bristol, South Gloucestershire and North Somerset, they give their time, skills and compassion to support patients, customers, and the wider community. Every role makes a meaningful contribution to the care we can provide.

We welcome people from all backgrounds and life experiences. Whether you can offer a few hours a week, support us at a particular time of year, or are exploring volunteering for the first time, we will help you find an opportunity that is right for you and right for the Hospice.

Why volunteer?

Volunteering with St Peter’s is a chance to give something back, meet new people, develop skills and be part of a supportive local community. It can be practical, social, creative or specialist. Most importantly, it helps us provide care to more people.

What you can expect from us

We are committed to volunteering best practice. This means providing clear role information, fair and inclusive recruitment, appropriate checks, a welcoming induction, role-specific training, ongoing support and regular opportunities to share feedback. We also recognise and celebrate the difference volunteers make.

Some roles involve direct contact with patients, families or people using hospice services, while others support our shops, events, administration, fundraising or community activity. Whatever the setting, we will make sure you understand your role, feel confident to carry it out safely, and know who to speak to if you need help.
