Dad was a wood man - he handled wood the way a jeweller might handle a precious gem or, a musician, a priceless instrument.
Through his intelligent and dextrous hands he created bowls, toys, candle holders, furniture, instruments and boats.
In 2014 Jack decided to dedicate all his work to supporting the Hospice. These were the "turning years". The success of the Christmas Market inspired him to prolific output. He gave everything he made to the Hospice including all his expenses. As he was so keen to say: "its just such a positive activity in every sense". He gave a lot but received in abundance; recognition, admiration, respect and love. Over £10,000 pounds donated in just over two years
So proud of you Dad.
Very generous tribute to Jack.
Kind donation from Christopher. A lovely tribute.
Purchases and donations from Jack's life celebration on 11/06/17 - thank you all so much!
I had no contact with Jack since he (and I) retired, which I regret. I remember him, before our retirements, as a kind and caring colleague, always ready to advise and help if asked. He was a great civilising influence in our workplace.
Due to the storm predicted to arrive this weekend and the rare red weather warning issued by The Met Office across Bristol and the South West, we have made the difficult decision to cancel the event.
We know how important this event is for our community and we share your disappointment, but the safety of our patients and supporters is our highest priority.
If you have any questions or need further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact us via community@stpetershospice.org
