Rules of Entry

Please read the rules and conditions of entry:
  • IMPORTANT: The event welcomes all ages from 3 years old, but all under 16s must be accompanied by a participating registered adult. Parents/guardians are responsible for their child/children's safety throughout the event. Schools and youth groups who take part must have adequate supervision. Please note that one adult can be responsible for more than four participants under 16 years of age.
  • Small children must be lifted through deep bubbles at the bubble stations.
  • The Madmess course is approximately 5K. It is not a race. It’s non-competitive, non-timed event. You can choose to walk, jog or run and if you would rather not have paint or glitter thrown at you then you can bypass the stations and the bubble stations if necessary.
  • Personal details: all entrants must provide a home address with postcode, together with an emergency contact name, relationship to the participant and telephone number of someone who will be available on the day of the event. This should not be someone participating in the event.
  • The registration fee for any entries received is non-refundable and non-transferable.
  • By signing up for the event, you agree to follow the reasonable directions of St Peter’s Hospice and abide by the rules and conditions of entry for Madmess.
  • By signing up for the event you are giving your permission for any photographs taken of you at the event to be used in future publicity. It is the participant’s responsibility to inform the Event Organisers upon registration if you do not want your picture to appear in such materials.
  • If necessary, St Peter’s Hospice reserves the right to cancel this event at any time due to unforeseen circumstances.
  • On NO account is alcohol to be bought into the event site or consumed during the event. Event Organisers reserve the right to refuse entry to anyone under the influence of alcohol.
  • Disabled entrants are welcome to take part. However due to the nature of the event, the location and some uneven terrain through the grounds of North Somerset Showground, please contact St Peter’s Hospice prior to booking to establish whether the event is suitable for you. If a disabled entrant requires assistance from another person, this person must also enter as an individual.
  • No animals apart from guide dogs are permitted.
  • Medical Information - You are responsible for your own medical condition and all participants enter at their own risk. St Peter’s Hospice will not accept liability for any injury or loss as a result of your participation but you understand that your statutory rights remain unaffected. You agree to seek medical advice from your general practitioner if you are in any doubt as to your physical ability to participate in the event.
  • We ask that those taking part raise sponsorship or make a donation in aid of St Peter’s Hospice. Madmessers are asked to raise a suggested minimum of £50 for adults and £25 for children (under 18s).
  • The agent used to colour the paint and glitter is non-toxic and bio degradable and will not affect the environment. These should not cause harm to participants, however we recommend that if you have a respiratory, skin or medical condition that could be affected and are unsure, you must consult your doctor.
  • Due to the nature of the dyes used these may stain clothing. It is the participants’ responsibility to come suitably dressed for the event. The event organisers take no responsibility for colour stains on any shoes or clothing.
  • Please ensure that you wear appropriate clothing and appropriate footwear as the ground is uneven in places. We recommend all participants bring something to protect their eyes while running through the bubble stations, either sunglasses or swimming goggles, and a hat if you wish to stop the paint and glitter from getting into your hair.
  • If you wish to bring a pram or pushchair along the route, it must have a raincover to protect the child itself and please be aware that the ground will be uneven.
  • If you have any questions about any of the above or about Madmess 5K please contact St Peter’s Hospice on 01275 391428
