Firewalking in Memory

James Marlow is taking on the Firewalk in memory of his friend Tim, who St Peter’s Hospice cared for at the end of his life. James says that the care offered to Tim was so wonderful that he wanted to give somthing back.

“Before Tim died we decided we wanted to support the cause in some way. The staff were amazing and cared for Tim and his family in a very difficult time.

“Once we had decided we wanted to do something we had to pick our event. I searched for ‘shortest run’ and the Firewalk popped up. I’m not much of a runner so I decided this was much more my style!

“I’m really looking forward to the challenge and I’ve agreed to do it in fancy dress, which I hope will help to boost my fundraising!”

The Firewalk is exactly what the name suggests – a 5 metre bare foot walk over red hot wood embers measuring around 500 degrees Celsius. No tricks, no special effects. Just you and the fire!

This year’s Firewalk is taking place at Millennium Square on Friday 21 March.

We have a limited number of spaces left, so sign up now for your chance to take part!
