Ruth Deborah Smith

1957 - 2015

My sister Ruth (Deborah Smith) died on the 7th July 2015 due to a brain tumour aged just 59 years.

She fought the cancer for 15 months.

Ruth spent the last six weeks of her life in St. Peter's Hospice in Bristol. My Brother-in-law, Barry, stayed in the Hospice with my sister 24/7 for those six weeks.

The care, humility and support shown by the Staff of the Hospice to Ruth, Barry, Family and Friends at this very difficult time was exceptional and there was no cost for the support.

The Hospice costs £19,000 a day to run with just £5,000 coming from the NHS and the remaining £14,000 coming from St. Peter's Hospice Charity shops situated throughout Bristol, donations, Gifts in Wills and fund raising.

I am raising funds for the Hospice and looking for your support. I will be trekking to Everest Base Camp during March 2017. The expedition is fully funded by me and all monies raised by sponsorship will go to the Hospice.

I hope that you will never need to call on the support of a Hospice but if you do, please know that you are in wonderful hands.

Thank you again for visiting this page, it means a great deal to me.
