Gap Lend a Hand

We have been delighted recently to have recieved the support of the team at Gap Cribbs Causeway, who have been helping out at our Westbury on Trym shop.

The team from the Mall have visited the shop a couple of times, lending their expertise and giving their time to create stunning window displays from our stock.  It is fantastic to recieve the support from such a succesfull company who, not only help create beautiful displays but have also recived funding from the company, funding their time at the shop.

Keep your eyes pealed for more stricking displays created by the team fom Gap when they return again.

A massive thank you to the team.

Jelf in charity bike challenge and fun day

We were delighted when employees from the Chipping Sodbury head office of Jelf Group plc took part in a fun day and bike ride for St Peter’s Hospice.  The day has raised just shy of an incredible £15,000.

Members of Jelf’s Executive and senior management team set out on Friday 15th May for a two day, 150 mile cycle challenge starting from the company’s Cardiff office, with a pit stop in Chipping Sodbury where they were met by local Mayoress Wendy Whittle, before heading off on the remainder of their journey, which finished at the Group’s Ringwood office the following day.

Jelf was raising money in memory of their colleague Emma Wygladala, who worked at Jelf for over 10 years in their Bristol Corporate Pensions team, and who tragically passed away at St Peter’s Hospice last year.

With support from local suppliers Hobbs House Bakery, the Friday saw Jelf put on a BBQ at their offices, which was enjoyed by colleagues and neighbouring businesses.  Alongside the tasty burgers and hotdogs, the Jelf team ran a number of stalls to help raise further funds for the hospice, from a traditional Tombola stall and coconut shy, to cake sale and ‘hook a duck’ challenge.  Clothes donations for the hospice shop were also collected on the day.

Jelf’s Chief Executive, Alex Alway, said: “The event was an excellent opportunity to bring everyone together in memory of our colleague Emma and raise essential funds for the hospice.  We were delighted that Chipping Sodbury’s Mayor, Wendy Whittle, and Edd from St Peter’s were able to lead the official welcoming party for the cyclists after the first leg of their bike ride.  Each year the Jelf staff rise to a challenge, and this was by no means an easy one, but one that was immensely rewarding, in being able to support such a deserving local charity.”

The hospice is incredibly grateful to all the staff at Jelf for their continued support.  This latest event has again raised a huge amount for the hospice – helping to support our work in the local community.

What’s Right?

We were delighted to host the monthly meeting of the networking group ‘What’s Right?’ this morning.  They really are a networking group with a difference.

What’s Right? raises money for good causes by donating a proportion of any business generated as a result of membership to the chosen good cause.  A group of trusted partners, the businesses involved, are obligated to conform to our code of practice.

St Peter’s Hospice are delighted to be one of the beneficiaries of the group, who over the years have donated thousands of pounds to their chosen partner charities.

It was a great pleasure to host the group this morning and we look forward to continuing to work with such a fantastic initiative.

More information about the group can be found online at http://www.whatsright.co.uk/home

Lets get Quizzical!

The Corporate Quiz 2015 took place on Thursday 12th March at the Marriott Royal.

Twenty Two teams from businesses around the city were all vying to be crowned this years champions.  As with last year, we were delighted to be supported by Barclays Bank in organising and running the night and were also thrilled with local solicitor firm Veale Wasbrough Vizards sponsoring the welcome drink.

Last years champions ‘Beating Dreadful Odds’, pictured, from financial industry giants BDO LLP, were back to defend their title.

Round after round went by with competition stiff but by the end of the night it was the ‘Beating Dreadful Odds’ girls who walked away with the coveted winners shield.

A hugely enjoyable and successful night was had by all and we are delighted to say that over £13,000.
A massive thank you to all who attended as well as all who supported the event through the auction, raffle, volunteering on the evening and sponsoring.

15 hours of stand up… you’re joking!

We were delighted to receive the support of Robert Lord and his colleagues at Co-op Portishead.

On Halloween, Robert, a well known joker in the store, entertained the customers of the store with 15 hours of stand up comedy.  Customers were asked to make a donation to St Peter’s Hospice.   Robert chose to support the Hospice following the care we provided for his mother, Jane.

Robert’s colleagues and the Customers of the store were very supportive and generous helping to raise £200 which will make a real difference to our patients and their families.

A massive thank you to Robert for the huge effort put in and the support you have shown.

Chocolate Robin? Don’t mind if I do!

Do you like Chocolate?

Bailey’s Bonanza!

Bailey of Bristol – the renowned caravan manufacturers – recently held the bi-annual open day of their factory in south Bristol.

Visiting caravan-lovers enjoyed an exclusive behind-the-scenes tour of the factory itself followed by excellent refreshments and a sale of caravan paraphernalia in aid of St Peter’s Hospice.

It was this sale, along with a social during the evening run by Bailey’s Owners Caravan Club, that raised a whopping…

£3586.10!

Thank you so much Bailey of Bristol, and Bailey owners, for your support and generosity. We really appreciate it!

GOOOOAAAAALLLLL!

The next few weeks see two footballing events taking place in aid of St Peter’s Hospice.

Firstly, Constructing Excellence will be holding its very own Brazilian style construction industry 5-a-side football tournament on 12th September at Goals Soccer Centre, WISE Campus, Bristol.   This annual event will see teams pit themselves against each other for glory but also to raise funds for the Hospice. Entry is £100 per team of 7.  This event is open to businesses from any industry but primarily from the construction industry.

Following this, on the 22nd September, Bristol Rovers FC will be hosting the 2nd annual St Peter’s Hospice Quiz in Memory of Roger Harding.

Last year the first charity quiz night in memory of the much loved kitman was a huge success with over £1,300 raised for the Hospice. Roger sadly passed away last summer, and Gashead Matt Spicer organised the event in his honour to help raise money for St Peter’s Hospice, who cared for him during his illness.

There will be a great prize for the winning team, and there will also be an auction featuring a host of top prizes including; signed home and away shirts from last season.  Tickets for the quiz will be a minimum of £3 per person (maximum of four per team) and you can book your slot in advance by donating here https://www.justgiving.com/Captain-Gas3.  The event will take place in the Dribuild East Suite on Monday, September 22nd at 7.30pm.

If you would like more details about either of these events, please get in touch.
