Hospice honey hustle creates buzz

With constant fundraising events and sponsorship demands on supporters and shop customers, St Peter’s Hospice staff are being encouraged to lead by example

Many have seized the challenge with relish (not least including CEO Simon), and the latest fundraising superstar is Hospice receptionist Wendy – with a little help from her swarm of bees!

Wendy only started bee-keeping this year, but has already produced her first jar of honey.

“It has been very interesting although we are very aware we have a great deal to learn,” said Wendy. “The early warm weather got the girls off to a fine start and we have harvested our first honey.”

“The harvest was modest so I’m not about to flood the market with Bristol Honey, however, I decided to raffle off my very first jar of honey.”

The lucky winner Pete

Entry was £1 and a single pound jar of honey (which would normally sell at about £6) raised an incredible £155 for St Peter’s Hospice.

The lucky winner was Inpatient Unit volunteer Pete, who was delighted to win perhaps the most coveted jar of honey in Bristol!
