International Nurses’ Day – 12 May

Celebrating nurses at St Peter’s Hospice

Nurses around the world will be celebrating International Nurses’ Day on 12 May, the anniversary of the birth of Florence Nightingale.

Nursing staff are the superheroes of health care. They are there when needed most, changing lives with their unique set of skills. On Friday 12 May we want to say thank you! We will celebrate our community nurse specialists, hospice at home nurses and hospice nurses.

Chris Benson, Director of Patient Care at St Peter’s Hospice said: “I am very proud and privileged to work with all our nurses at St Peter’s Hospice who work in both the hospice and the wider Bristol community.

“We have a fantastic team who deliver skilled care with exceptional humanity and kindness, and with a genuine desire to treat every patient and family as the individuals they are.”

Patients, relatives and nurses will be sharing their stories with the local media throughout the week leading up to Nurses’ Day, and on 12 May we will be marking the occasion at our hospice in Brentry.

Day Hospice will be celebrating with mocktails and feather boas while the In-Patient Unit will have a fabulous home-made cake decorated with a bed and nurse. The Hospice at Home team will be celebrating during their team building day.
