Leeds to Bristol cycle challenge raises thousands for St Peter’s Hospice |

A team of cyclists have received a heroes welcome after a 300 mile challenge from Leeds to Bristol to raise money for the city’s St Peter’s Hospice. The four cyclists were welcomed across the finish line at Henbury School after the three day trek. One of the cyclists is a former pupil from the school. The team have managed to raise in excess of £2,500 for the hospice. Henbury man Mark Johnson was there to greet the team after they decided to complete the challenge in memory of his mother.

St Peter’s Hospice Appeals For More Help From Thornbury Area |

An appeal is going out from Bristol’s St Peter’s Hospice for more volunteers in the Thornbury area to help raise thousands of pounds towards its vital work.
Every year in July the Hospice carries out a House to House collection which raises £25,000, but the number of people in the Thornbury area volunteering to collect the money has dropped over recent years.
Pam Shipp from the St Peter’s Hospice Severnside Support group is now urging local people to get involved. She says, “St Peter’s really needs our help. Every year it provides vital specialised care to 1600 local people with incurable cancer and other life limiting illnesses. Its services are completely free.” “We urgently need collectors in the Thornbury area who can give a few hours for their local hospice. It’s so important to raise money for such a vital cause. Any pairs of hands to help out would be very welcome and would make a huge difference.” St Peter’s works in the Bristol community where teams of specialist nurses provide advice and support in patients’ home. It also has two hospice buildings at Knowle and Brentry with In-Patients Units and Day hospices on both sites.
